Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal– A Man of Considerable Actions

Pawan Kumar Bansal is a member of 15th Lok Sabha of India from Chandigarh constituency. He has also represented the same as Member of Parliament in the 10th, 13th & 14th Lok Sabha and is an active member of Indian Nation Congress. He was born on 16 July 1948 in Sunam. Being a graduate in law, he started his career as an advocate. But, his innovative mind and enthusiasm took him to politics. Even Pawan Kumar Bansal’s photo predicts that he is a person of considerable action. With his never still efforts, he became 39th Railway Minister of India and also became the first congress leader to take ministry after 17 years.


Pawan Kumar Bansal has served in various sectors for the development of India. He has worked as the Minister of Parliament Affairs and the Minister of Water resources in current Lok Sabha. He has also worked as the Minister of State for Finance and the Minister of Parliament affairs in first Manmohan Singh’s cabinet. With his endless efforts, he has changed the pace of Chandigarh by increasing employment opportunities in IT sector, developing parks with walkways in all sectors and scaling up health & education services. He is also going to represent Chandigarh 7th time in 16th Lok Sabha on 30th April 2014.

Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal has served the Indian National Railways. He started many new trains like Chandigarh-New Delhi Shatabdi, Nangal Dam- Hazur Sahib etc. He also initiated the doubling & extension of many tracks in Northern India. He strived to improve the infrastructure of railway stations and the passenger travel experience. E-ticketing through mobile phones has made a revolutionary change in the management of railways. Pawan Bansal sets up many skills development centers across the country to impart skills to youth for railway related jobs. He improved the staff by filling up approximately 1.52 lakhs of vacancies.
