Pawan Kumar Bansal is a graduate in B.Sc. from Government College Chandigarh with an additional degree of LLB from Department of Law of Panjab University. He started his career as an advocate and is currently the member of 15th Lok Sabha of India from Chandigarh constituency. He has represented Chandigarh four times as a Member of Parliament in the 10th, 13th, 14th and 15th Lok Sabha. He is also representing the same in 16th parliament elections.

Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal became 39th Railway Minister of India on 28th October 2012 and also became the first congress leader to take ministry after 17 years. He started many new trains and improved the infrastructure of railway stations. He is also responsible for setting up 25 skills develop centers across India. He has also worked as Minister of State for Finance and the Minister of Parliament Affairs in first Manmohan Singh’s cabinet. He has served in various sectors for the development of India.

New five storey OPD block with full air conditioned facility has been made functional in government multi specialty hospital in sector-16, Chandigarh.  Primary health centre of Manimajra has been upgraded to civil hospital with an additional emergency-cum-mother & child block. Pawan Kumar Bansal is a member of 15th Lok Sabha of India from Chandigarh constituency. Pawan Kumar Bansal was born on 16 July,1948 in Sunam, Punjab. He completed his schooling from Yadavindra public school, Patiala and graduation in B.Sc. from Government College, Chandigarh. He also holds a degree of LLB from the Department of Law, Panjab University. He is an advocate by profession and a member of the Indian National Congress political party. Pawan Kumar Bansal started his political career in 1976 as general secretary of the Chandigarh Territorial Youth Congress. He became 39th railway minister of India on 28 October, 2012 and presently is the member of 15th Lok Sabha of India.

Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal a member of the 15th Lok Sabha of India, has been serving country by working in the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Minister of Water Resources, Minister of State for Finance and Parliamentary Affairs. He has been re elected in the Lok Sabha, several times.

He started his reign as a railway minister in October 2012. Though increasing the railway fares which have not been touched since years, Mr. Bansal still brought a sigh of hope among the common man.
